Located in the centre of Aachen. The Elysee Theatre was opened in January 1954. It replaced an earlier Elysee Kino, which was destroyed by Allied bombing during World War II.
It was a modern cinema with all seating on a single floor with draped walls. The ceiling has a ‘flying saucer’ shaped feature, with concealed lights in ever changing colours playing on wall drapes. It was equipped for CinemaScope presentations and there were two sets of curtains over the screen.
Now closed as a cinema, the Elysee Theatre it became a succesful nightclub known as the Elysee Tanzpalast. It was demolished in 2015.
