The Way-Bak-Wyn Twin Drive-In was built in 2008 near Hazard, KY by Condy Wayne and Wilhelmina Fugate (3 C Entertainment, Inc). The Fugate family have been in the exhibition business for over three decades. It’s name harkens back to the good old days when drive-in theatres were a focal point of rural and suburban life. Current owners hand-pick a variety of first-run features through the main drive-in season from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The theatre boasts two large screen towers, radio sound and a neat, well-groomed lot surrounded by lush woods. The concession building is famous locally for a variety of home-made foods as well as traditional drive-in snacks. The Way-Bak-Wyn Twin Drive-In is booked by Preferred Booking Service (Fred and Lori Schweitzer) and is under the guiding wing of Oberleitner Associates Cinema Consultants (www.cinema-consultant.com)

Its Facebook page says it failed to open for the 2014 season. On April 7, 2014, they wrote, “We are sorry to say the Way-Bak-Wyn Drive-In will not be open in the summer of 2014. We will miss our wonderful customers. Thanks for all your support during our short run. The age of digital has come and we just can’t afford to upgrade our equipment.”
