Construction of the Alamo was first announced on July 1, 1987 by Rivertheater Associates Limited, alongside the people behind Pace Foods and Luby’s Cafeterias, with an estimate $6.5 million with its entrance facing between the mall and the Menger Hotel and overlook the Lady Bird Fountain and the back walls of the Alamo compound. This was part of a development of a $15 million science museum, with the IMAX being proposed in December 1986, with talks resuming in April 1987, and the approval a few months later.
IMAX staff began filming the “Alamo: The Price Of Freedom” movie 12 days later beginning on July 13, 1987, in Brackettville, by the direction of Kieth Merrill. Pace was the leading investor and Luby’s was the organizing sponsor of the theater during its early days of operation. A total cost of the film using double-wide 70mm film was an estimate $2.8 million in filming. After major edits with a shock, the film got mostly negative reviews from a group of local Hispanic leaders as much for its artistic content about its utilization on historical re-enactors rather than actors to recreate the events surrounding the 13-day siege and Battle of the Alamo throughout late-February and early-March 1836, and as for its treatment of their culture after a test screen in December 1987. The uncut version of the film was immediately screened shortly before 1988 arrived, and the reviews are still the same because of its incorrect myths and legends about the event and portions of the film “insulting the depiction of Hispanics”. The staff at IMAX claimed that the film “insults Texas residents because of its demeaning portrayal of native Tejanos” and editors had no choice but to hurry and edit again in January 1988 before the theater opened two months later.

Theatre 10 316 IMAX at AMC and IMAX 70MM (screen opened on May 1, 2001)
Theatre 11 422 IMAX at AMC
IMAX 70mm was listed on the LF Examiner website
The submitter posted AMC Rivercenter 11 and this theater around the same time (the theater IDs are only one number apart); it’s likely that David wanted to keep the theater listings separate since the IMAX was in a separate building.
This is actually the AMC Rivercenter 11 which has it’s own page on Cinema Treasures
Actual opening date is March 6, 1988, yes with “Alamo: The Price Of Freedom”.
