The 800-seat Tai Tung Theatre, which opened to business in 1913, was probably one of the first theatre to be built in Jiangmen. The theatre building was a two-storey structure with brick and wood with a long corridor on the first floor. Tai tung is the Cantonese pronunication of its Chinese name, literally meaning “everyone living in the world has the same right”. Its exact English name if any is unavailable. The theatre was demolished in 1929 for the building of a road, and a hotel was built on the site of the theatre.
