Gulf States relit the theatre as a first-run house on June 6, 1986 as the Ellis Isle Cinema 4. Gulf was a quick study and just three months later demoted the venue to a $1 sub-run discount house on September 19, 1986. That saved the day as the theatre was able to hold on until 1993 as a deep discount house.
