Florida State Theatres opened the Plaza on December 21, 1965 with “Thunderbolt”. It was later operated by ABC Florida State Theatres, twinned in the mid-1970s, later operated by Plitt Theatres, and finally operated by Cineplex Odeon before closing on April 22, 1991.
