TORS DRIVE-IN, DUSK

Opened on 27th March in 1966 with Doris Day in “The Tunnel of Love” & Keith Larson in “Mission to Danger”, the Tors Drive-In has been showing great movies, with no signs of slowing down. Owned by Debbie and Steve Snell. A second screen was added in 2011 using 16mm and 35mm projection equipment. That screen is now being advertised as 40ft in width. They offer hot meals in the cafĂ©' and always two movies for less than the price of one. Admission is $7.50, $5.50 and student groups $5.50.

Hey Mike,

Thanks for posting this on the web. We have had our 2 screens going since 2011 and just thought we’d let you know. Will be taking some more pics soon. My husband Steve and I have been running the place since 1990! Cheers, and thanks again, Deb.

There is also an indoor cinema (Tors Cinema ) on the drive-in(1 screen) possibly in the same year as the drive-in(1966?)

Sadly it looks like this one might be closed for good now.

Closed because the local council(Charters Towers Regional Council) who run the World Theatre building put up the council rates and spend funding on their World Theatre and not the Tors Drive-in as well. Tors Drive-in had already closed down their indoor cinema building(recently?).
