The University Mall Twin opened on August 30, 1974. Seating was listed at 958. The auditoriums seated 568 and 390. This theatre was part of the Plitt Intermountain Theatres.
Cineplex Odeon took over after Plitt and they built a new four screen theatre on the north side of the mall opening on December 18, 1987. The University Mall Twin Theatres was closed in 1990.

8 more theatres opened on December 18th, 1987 by Cineplex Odeon, who also opened three new cinemas in Toronto and one each in Montreal, Edmonton AB, Jersey City NJ, Washington DC, Rocky Mount NC all on the same day. The 1974 twin cinemas closed down in 1990.
