Fulton Boulevard Drive-In

The Fulton Boulevard Drive-In opened August 17, 1962 with Michael Callan in “The Interns” & James Philbrook in “The Wild Westerners”. It was operated by Storey Theatres. It was located on 30 acres of scenic site surrounded by forest. The drive-in had a 1,150 car capacity. The theatre was designed by Wil-Kin Inc, and was built for $450,000.

An attractive playground was located in front of the concessions building. The masonry concession building provided 4,000 square feet of space and it was located in the center of the drive-in for easy access from any direction. The four lane cafeteria was located in a square design in the center of the concession.

Closed in 1971, an industrial park sits on the property today.

When the Fulton Blvd Drive-In closed in 1971 they actually moved there marquee to the Scott Drive-In that was located in Decatur, GA. When the Scott Drive-In closed in 1977 this same marquee was then moved once again to the Gwinnett Drive-In that was located in Norcross, GA.

Sounds more like a Georgia Theatre operation, everytime they closed something; some part of something would be somewhere on a Drive-in Or walk-in Theatre.

Actually Mike the whole movie title of “VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA” is on the Fulton Blvd’s marquee. They just had the words “TO THE” put up in small letters. Just figured I’d pass that along! :–)
