Ben Hill Twin

The Ben Hill Twin was opened November 25, 1969. This Eastern Federal Corporation property, was like two Cobb Cinemas next to each other. Drew pretty good crowds in the day since it was out by itself, west of Greenbriar/Westgate and several miles north of Old National. With a limited number of screens in the southwest part of Atlanta there was plenty of product to go around. Last time I was in the area I couldn’t locate it anymore so it has changed so much that you can’t recognize it anymore. The Ben Hill Twin was closed in 1987.

It now houses a Mosque.

This theater has not been demolished. It is presently used as a mosque.

No I never took pictures of the Stonemont. I only went there once. I do remember it was called Bollywood before it was demolished.

I think it looked just like my theatre here and like the Cedar Bluff in Knoxville. All three ABC theatres opening about the same time.

stefankatlanta You were not the only one. I did too. I think the last movie I saw there was Attack of the Killer Tomatoes.

I saw a handful of movies here such as Damien 2, The Day Time Ended and Day of the Dead. I remember driving by in 1987 and Jaws revenge was playing. It must had closed down shortly after. Very sad.
