The Peninsula Twin Drive-In opened as a single screen May 8, 1970 with Steve McQueen in “The Reivers” and Elvis Presley in “Charro”. The second screen opened the following week. I found two car capacities listed at 400 and 600 so I am assuming that the single screen was 400 and the twin was 600. I found a copy of an old playbill listing the address and what was showing for the week.
The Peninsula Drive-In closed in the 1980’s and has since been demolished. There is an Extended Stay Hotel where the entrance of the drive-in once stood.

Closed ~1982? Can anyone verify the exact date?
After it closed the Snack Bar Building was used as an indoor firing range.
More info and photos are always welcome.
I worked there in 1972-73 and both screens were there then, I worked in the snack bar.
This opened on May 8th, 1970 and the 2nd screen a week later. Grand opening ad in the photo section.
The last ad that I found was dated Aug 30, 1983.
Feb. 18, 1984 Notice that property was sold to satisfy a $330,000 lien against Drive In by American International Pictures vs. Price Enterprises, Inc.
I saw Halloween there in 1978-79. Sometime after it closed, but while it stood, the snack bar was being used as a Flea Market. The 1983-1984 time frame sounds right.
