Riviera Beach Drive-In

Riviera Beach rests a few miles north of West Palm Beach. It had a drive-in located on the west side of Old Dixie Highway operated by A.F. D'anna named the Beach Drive-In which opened on April 20, 1951 with Audie Murphy in “The Kid from Texas” & June Havoc in “The Story of Molly X”. By 1953 it had been renamed Palm Beach Outdoor Drive-In and was operated by Nate Bernstein & R.E. Clyman of the Dixie Theatre, Miami.

It closed as the Riviera Beach Drive-In on September 25, 1988 with “Humanoid” & Robert Englund in “Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master”.

The drive-in is visible on Google Earth using historic aerial imagery.

There is another drive-in nearby at W 10th St & Avenue U, Riviera Beach, FL 33404 which I have not been able to name as yet.

Here is a 1968 aerial photo of the unnamed drive-in, courtesy of HistoricAerials.com.

Possible names are Riviera Drive-In and Roosevelt Drive-Ins, from Mike Rivest’s site, but I have no way of knowing which is the correct name for that location. Hopefully, someone local to Riviera Beach can provide the answer, or one of the Florida guys can hit up the library and dig it up from newspaper microfilm.
