The theatre may have been named to evoke the memory of downtown Rochester’s historic Chateau Theatre, which, though the building still exists, has been converted to a bookstore.

CMX Cinemas closed this along with all of its locations on March 16, 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. A month later CMX declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy trying to renegotiate as many leases as possible.

The Chateau became one of many theatre closed permanently during the pandemic. The theater occupied suites 106 and 107 which were leased individually in August 2020 ending the theater’s run.

This theater has since reopened following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Proof: I looked on CMX’s website, and I saw showtimes for movies for this theater. Hell, I even saw recent pictures posted on Google for this theater.
