Closed January 19, 1973 with a reduced-cost screening of “Pete ‘n’ Tillie” for 50 cents admission.
Closed in 1974.
This opened on April 18th, 1930 grand opening ad in the photo section.

The Hollywood Theatre underwent a $150,000 renovation in 1963, for operators Trans-Texas Theatres. An articlea bout it appears on this page of the January 13, 1964, issue of Boxoffice. The gala reopening took place on Christmas Day, 1963. Fort Worth architect Jim Vowell had designed the remodeling.

I went as a kid to the Hollywood to see The Beatles' “A Hard Days Night” when it first came out in 1964. I was only 8 years old but was with my older brother and his friends. The line snaked around several downtown blocks and we stood in line for hours. Once we finally got a seat inside the packed theatre and the movie started, the screams of the girls in the audience completely drowned out the sound and I never heard any of the movie. Wasn’t until later when we saw the movie again that we got to hear it too. That was quite a day made all the more memorable taking place at a grand old theatre in the middle of city!
The Hollywood Theatre seated 1700 people.
