Opened July 28, 1960 with Charlton Heston in “The Wreck of the Mary Deare” & “Marshall Thompson in "First Man in Space”. The WAWA Drive-In was a nice size drive-in that tried to book movies for families in the Syracuse area. On May 14, 1970 you can’t go wrong with "Bandolero" and the sci-fi "Journey to the Far Side of the Sun". May 14, was also a special night at the WAWA Drive-In, they were opening for the 1970 summer season! It continued to operate into the early-1980’s. It had been demolished by 1998,

This is at North Webster on route 13 at East 800 N.
Approx. address for this drive-in was 8200 Indiana 13.
Odd name!! Why was it called WAWA?
The WAWA probably comes from the name of Chief Wawasee of the Miami tribe who lived in the area around 1830. There is also Wawasee high school and Lake Wawasee nearby. Around 1980 the drive-in began showing only XXX films. This went on for several years until VHS porn finally brought it down.
Opened with Charlton Heston in “The Wreck Of The Mary Deare” and Marshall Thompson in “First Man Into Space” (unknown if extras added). It was first owned by Mr. and Mrs. Jack Stoelting and managed by Leon Vance.
A closer address is 8094 IN-13, Syracuse, IN.
Google Maps has updated their addresses and this puts it right on the property.
It was still intact in 1986, but not sure if it was still operational. The drive-in had been demolished by 1998.
Today, Tranter Graphics sits on the property with no trace of the drive-in remaining.
