The owners of Elstun were Elstun Dodge and his mother Rose Dodge , she died in June of 1952 and he in Aug. of 1988.
Mr. Dodge also owned the Dodge theater in New Richmond Ohio.
Old_wiz66 Can you tell us anything more about the Elstun or theaters?
I remember being allowed to go to movies here without my parents, and I was born in 1953, so I suspect the closing date is late 50’s early 60’s, rather than mid-50’s. Unless my parents were VERY permissive!
Lynn E216, Always glad to learn more about The Elstun Th. Could you give us a physical discription of its interior? Or did you know who was on staff there? Thanks in advance , Until soon,Hank
Launched October 15, 1937. Architectural sketch in photos. Still showing films there in 1962.
According to my source 1962 was the last year for the Elstun. It then functioned as a furniture store until it burnt in 1992. The building was demolished in 1955.
Historical note: Some sources say this theatre was in Mt. Washington. Mount Washington is one of 52 communities within Greater Cincinnati. Another is Anderson Township. CT lists theatres in that community. There are probably also other examples.
