The Town Hall Picturedrome was set up in the Yorkshire Dales town of Masham, northwest of Ripon, during the 1920’s. A projection booth was added to the building, which had originally opened in 1912 costing £4,146 of publicly donated money.
At some point, probably also in the early-1920’s one end of the room was partitioned to form a stage. The buildings architect was J. Houfe from Harrogate.
The hall is at 1st floor level and has a flat floor. By the 2nd World War it seems to have been used entirely for films.
The projection room still survives, with the portholes high up on rear wall, but there seems no sign that films have been screened here for a very long time!. It is now a multi-purpose entertainments hall available for hire.
