I worked at this theater from 1979 to 1981 and managed it from 1982 to 1985. At the end of its days it was called the Tanasbourne Cinemas. It was run by Moyer Theaters. It was at 185th and Sunset highway. A target is where the theater was. Now there is a Regal across from where the Tanasbourne Mall was. Seating capacities were 535, 304, and 304. 70mm in big auditorium. Ran Close Encounters, 2010, Quest for Fire, Star Trek 3, and a few others in 70mm. The mall was torn down when the theater was and turned into an open air shopping center. An early multiplex, not really much but it was first theater I managed and have lots of fond memories.

I saw “The Natural” here in 1984 with some friends. Even then, years before it was torn down, the mall was pretty empty. We walked past a lot of empty store fronts to get to the theater. The theaters seemed small to me, and narrow, and not very cozy. It seemed like they had a sort of industrial look, with exposed concrete, steel beams, and plastic seats. The screens seemed small to me as well. It was a long time ago and my memory may be failing, but anyway that’s how I remember it.

There is a decent article about the old Tanasbourne Mall here, which mentions the cinemas: http://tanasbournemall.blogspot.com/
