The Pineview’s first appearance in the Motion Picture Almanac was in the 1960 edition under Bassett. It was owned by Rauley W. Connell and held 300 cars. That continued through the 1976 MPA. In 1977, the MPA rebooted its drive-in list, which no longer included the Pineview.

Boxoffice, March 23, 1970: “Rawley Connell, who sold his drive-in at Bassett to Rancher D. Cole of Ainsworth, is going to assist Cole in the operation this year.”

The Pineview Drive-In launched May 19, 1955 with Gary Cooper in “Garden of Evil.“ Owner Dave Cole was open through 1997 but a wind storm ripped off part of the screen and - because of the expense of repairs - he did not reopen in 1998.

Boxoffice, Dec. 17, 1955: “Verne Lindholm, owner of the Ainsworth Theatre, has sold his holdings to Cecil See, effective immediately … Lindholm said he is keeping his interest in the new drive-in a mile east of Long Pine.”

Approx. location for this drive-in was U.S. 20 east of town near The Cowboy Trail. The screen, ramps and buildings are still there.
