Winter Hill Theatre

The Broadway Theatre opened in December 1909, changing its name to Winter Hill Theatre around 1915 and closing around 1918.

I believe it was in the same building now used as a US Post Office for zip code 02145.

Just to nit pick a bit, as far as I can tell from 40 miles south of Chicago, the

Post Office is 320 and the

Winter Hill Bakery is 318.

Check it out, I could be wrong.

According the Lost Theatres Of Somerville website, Ron is correct. The building that housed the Winter Hill is now the post office. The bakery has the address, but the entrance was apparently next door.

In the 1927 Film Daily Yearbook, the Winter Hill Theater in Somerville is listed as having 600 seats and open 6 days a week. is this an error, or did it reopen after closing around 1918?

Probably refers to Pearson’s Perfect Pictures theatre, whose name was changed to Winter Hill in 1922 before it closed in 1927. See David Guss’s photo essay here.

And to complicate things further, this theatre is not to be confused with the later Broadway Theatre that opened in 1915, further east down the hlil, and still stands today.
