The Madison Drive-In was located on US 90 east of town at 106 N.E. Rutherford Trailer Park Way. It opened on September 9, 1955 with Richard Widmark in “Red Skies of Montana”. It was operated by R.F. Mackes. Closed in the late-1980’s, everything appears to be long gone, except the outline and driveway and the site is now a trailer park.

No MADISON DRIVE-IN in 1956.either.
That’s very strange. The outline of a former drive-in is very noticeable in a Google Maps view of the address.
So how did it get this name?
Here is a USGS topo map noting the location of the drive-in, courtesy of MSRMaps.com.
Not every drive-in made it into the encyclopedias, almanacs, and catalogs. Some slipped through the cracks, especially the ones in very rural areas.
Nice work Chuck. Good information can be found by using Google’s search engine, and with the right combination of words, you can discover a bunch of information through blogs, facebook postings, news stories, and history sites.
The truth is out there!
Above address does not map properly. The old drive-in is located east of this address
Chuck: Where did you find the Swan located?
The Madison Drive-In opened its gates on September 9, 1955 with Richard Widmark in “Red Skies Of Montana” (unknown if any short subjects were added), with a total capacity of 120 cars. It was once operated by Alfred Stevens during its later heyday.
The theater closed for the final time in the late-1980s.
A closer address is 106 NE Rutherford Trailer Park Way, Madison, FL.
I understand the address is not US-90, but it does put it smack on the drive-in itself. That’s because the entrance to the property has changed to the side street.
Today, you can still see the outline and some of the ramps along with the foundation of the ticket booth. The projection booth/concession stand still exists as well.
And as the address indicates, the property is a trailer park.
