Opened in 1965 with 904 seats, together with screen 2, originally named ‘City’ cinema (609 seats). In 1983 three more screens were added, using the former spacious foyer. The Royal Palast was especially remarkable as it was equipped with Europe’s largest screen (except for IMAX of course).
The Royal Palast and Europa Studio was closed on 28th April 2004.

The Royal Berlin is closed now.
The architect of the Royal and City Cinemas was Klause Heese. The architect responsible for converting the foyer into 3 cinemas was Wolf Bertelsman.
Another cinema was added in 1988; the Europa Studio which had 263 seats. The architect of this was Stefan Schroth.
