The Palace Theatre and was built in 1945 and closed in 1970. In 1978 it was renovated and twinned to reopen in 1979 as the Towne Cinemas.

The Towne Cinemas closed in 2001 and was uses as a live theatre for while.

There has been talk, for years about restoring this theatre. I think this was the Opera House, way before the Palace and 1945 date. Take the google view, and see the awsome rear view of the building/auditorium (Carlise/look left and Head Street).

This was built in 1913 as the Griffin Opera House. As seen on the marquee, the lat incarnation was spelled Town Cinemas (not Towne Cinema).

Closed as a movie theatre in 2004, but was used for live music for a number of years afterwards.
