The Ritz Theatre opened in 1939, with seating listed at 800. The theatre was owned by Fred T. McLendon and operated by Affiliated Theatres, a subsidiary of McLendon Theatres. The building was rather plain, a red brick building with a flat attraction panel on the side facing the parking lot.
The Ritz Theatre closed in 1985 and is now a performing arts center.

Well, on June 8 1979 THE Ritz was playing “WANDA NEVADA”.There,here is at least something for the RITZ.

Since 2017, the theatre has been called the “ Historic Ritz Theatre at the Schaefer Center,” and has received the prestigious Chairman’s Award for Excellence in Rehabilitation from the GA Trust for Historic Preservation. The Historic Ritz now seats 392 patrons.
