Opened on December 12, 1969 as the AMC Almeda Cinema 4. On June 25, 1976 five more screens were added, and it became the AMC Almeda 9 Cinema West.
The theatres closed in 1999.

saw mucho films at this place when it was a 4 screener. i mean many movies. i worked right across the gulf freeway and could shoot over to almeda in minutes and catch the matinee for a lousy buck. where i live now, the matinee is 5 dollars. my best memory is seeing “battle of britain” as the only attendee. that just NEVER happens.
It was the AMC Almeda 9 Theaters I vividly remember seeing that wording over the marquee on the sign along side the gulf freeway. The original 4 screen at the corner of Kingspoint and Kleckley became Almeda 9 West and the 5 screen across the mall was named Almeda 9 East
