The Carmike 6 was built in the rear parking lot of the Hatcher Square Mall in the late-1980’s when the triplex at the mall closed. Initially operated by Martin Theatres.

It was recently refitted with stadium seating and digital projection.

This exact theater did not open in 1983. Carmike(then Martin Theaters) moved from the Campus Theater and set up a triplex inside the Hatcher Square Mall in 1983. They sold the Campus Theater building to a local businessman. According to that businessman, Carmike sold the building with the understanding that it would not be used as a theater for ten years.

Carmike moved from inside the mall to it’s current location in 1987/88.
