Opened in 1884 as the Theatre Francais, the name was changed to Billy Moore’s Lyceum in 1905. In 1920, Loew’s took over and renovated and renamed it Loew’s Court Theatre from September 9, 1921. In 1924, it is renamed back to the Theatre Francais. In 1960, the policy changed to French movies and the name was changed again on November 6, 1970 to Eros Cinema and began showing adult films.

The theatre closed in 1981 and reopened in 1986 as Metropolis, a nightclub and concert venue. On September 17, 2017 it reopened as a concert venue named M TELUS after a wireless provider.

This huge theatre still functions as a popular nightclub and concert venue. The beautiful marble lobby is still intact although the auditorium and massive U-shaped balcony have been substantially modernised. Located in Montreal’s east end red-light district and one of the city’s most unique spaces. No pictures available but current info can be found here:
