The theatre was built in 1914 as a timber framed building clad in corrugated iron sheeting. The front was of rendered brickwork. Manager at the time of opening was was Henry Claypole.
In 1930 the projectionist was Carl Smith who remained there for many years.
The Grand Cinema closed in 1974 and was demolished in 1980. The St. Govan’s Centre now stands on the site.
