Catalina Theatre

The Catalina Theatre was opened March 26, 1947 with Cary Grant & Ingrid Bergman in Alfred Hitchcock’s “Notorious”. It was operated by Paramount Nace Theatres until 1949. It was then take over by United Paramount Theatres until 1965. “The Sound of Music” played here for 45 weeks. ABC Theatres then operated the Capalina Theatre until 1974, when it was taken over by Plitt Theatres and twinned in the late-1970’s.

Cineplex Odeon took over in 1985 and it operated until 1987 when it was closed an demolished to build their new 6-screen Catalina Cinemas, which opened in 1998.
