Located in the north London inner-city district of King’s Cross. The Cosy Corner Picture Playhouse was a shop conversion, designed by the architectural firm Lovegrove & Papworth. It opened in 1911 and was located on the northeast corner of Pentonville Road and Northdown Street.
It was closed in 1926, unable to compete with newer purpose built cinemas like the King’s Cross Cinema (later Odeon/Scala) built a few yards away across the road in 1920.
It became a warehouse in 1927, and in the 1980’s it was demolished and was replaced by a private hospital. In 2008, this too had been demolished and new buildings were being erected.
