The Cine Holiday was a regular movie theatre located in the Santurce district of San Juan by Stop 22 on Avenida Juan Ponce de Leon. It was operated by Cobian Theatres chain and opened on November 17, 1951 with Bud Abbott & Lou Costello in “Comin' Round the Mountain” (Cazador Casado). In the 1960’s it became an “adults only” movie house. Later it was torn down and a Fine Arts Center was created nearby.

This was one of the many movie theaters on Ponce De Leon Avenue in Santurce, Puerto Rico. Of the nearly 15 theaters, only the Metro theater is still operating .

The Holiday was located at Stop 22. It was a regular movie theater, but in the 1960’s it became an “adults only” movie house. Later it was torn down and a Fine Arts center was created nearby.

Anecdote: When I first started working with Cobian/Commonwealth, the Holiday was a second run house before it went porno. The ushers' supervisor, “MR.” de la Cruz, was a good friend and associate but a strict supervisor. The Holiday wa showing “7 Thieves” with Edward G. Robisnon == a good heist movie == and one of the ushers was sititng on the last row, when a character in the film shouted to another character “DE LA CRUZ !!!!!!!!!”. and the usher stood in attention. Those were the good old days in San Juan. Best, Andres.
