The K-W Drive-In opened on August 25, 1950 with Mickey Rooney in “The Big Wheel”. Car capacity was 875. IMPA lists this drive-in as being in Bridgeport, Ontario but Google maps the location to the Bridgeport district, north of Kitchener. It was closed on October 20, 1991 with Walter Pidgeon in “Forbidden Planet” & Tom Berenger in “Shattered”. Housing and a baseball diamond now occupy the site.

Why the name K-W?
It stands for Kitchener and Waterloo, the cities the drive-in served.
Closed in 1991. Site is now houses and a baseball diamond.
This opened on August 25th, 1950 at 133 Bridge Street East in Kitchener. Grand opening ad posted.
The actual closing date is October 20, 1991 with the 1956 classic “Forbidden Planet” and Tom Berenger in “Shattered” (very unique ending to a drive-in’s run).
