Rex Theatre

Located on Experiment Street at the corner of Ray Street. Owned and built by Richmond Emmett Noel in 1928. Opened in late-1928 or early-1929. Katie Wesley, the wife, took over the theatre after Mr. Noel passed in 1938. The son James Noel took over operations of the theatre in 1948.

The theatre closed possibly in the late-1970’s or early-1980’s. The roof has been replaced since, but the building is still standing even though in sad shape.

I spent many Saturdays in the Rex as a kid. My Uncle, Wesley Brannon, was manager for many years. Thanks for the photo. Brought back many memories.

The correct address is 724 Experiment (not 422).

The Rex was not at the corner of Ray Street. The building can be seen in Street View if you shift several doors north.
