Grove Drive-In

Located in Springdale, near Fayetteville, the Grove Drive-In was opened on June 7, 1963 with Andy Griffith in “No Time for Sergeants” & Debbie Reynolds in “The Second Time Around”. It was operated by Commonwealth Amusement. It was still operating in the early-1980’s.

My Grandmothers family owned the land it stood on when it was opened in 1955 all the way till it’s closing in the1980’s they leased the land to commonwealth amusement.

The Grove held its Grand Opening on June 7, 1963 and ran a rare ad in Fayetteville’s Northwest Arkansas Times to mark the occasion.

After closing in the mid-1980s, the screen remains standing until 2014. The Grove Drive-In is now listed as demolished.

The Grove Drive-In Wasn’t Even Opened In 1949 Nor Wasn’t Even Known As The 71 Drive-In.

The 71 Drive-In Kennerado’s Talking About Is The 71 In Fayetteville, Which Has Its Own CinemaTreasures Page.

The Grove Drive-In Is The Only Name Throughout Its History And It Opened Way Later Than That.

Construction Began In 1962, And The Grove Drive-In Opened Its Gates On June 7, 1963 With A Double Repackaging Feature: The 1958 Andy Griffith Film “No Time For Sergeants” And The 1961 Debbie Reynolds Film “The Second Time Around”, With No Selected Short Subjects.

Google street view shows the screen standing in June 2012, but gone by summer 2013. In early 2018 a large building was built on the site. As of summer 2026, the business on site is White Cap Construction and Safety Supplies. Business name has changed a few times over the past decade.
