The Paramount Theatre was opened by Publix on November 21, 1930 with Miriam Hopkins in “Fast and Loose”. A Barton theatre organ was installed and opened by organist Ann Melodie. During the 1940’s, it is listed as being operated by Paramount Pictures Inc. through their subsidiary M.A. Lightman.
The Paramount Theatre is still listed in the 1955 Film Daily Yearbook with 1,530 seats. By the 1970’s it was screening X-Rated movies. It was closed in January 1976. It was demolished in 1983.

“Fast and Loose”, the movie advertised on the marquee in the exterior shot, came out in 1930.
I was in LB today.A long time residemt said this theater is GONE.He also said two ther fine houses were on the same street-the ISIS and the WARNER.This gentleman’s wife is heavily involved with the Academy project.
Miss Toes has found something very interesting. The Trenton/Warner needs more research.
I just submitted an advertisement I scanned from the “Lynchburg News” that shows what I remember of the Paramount, that it was only showing X-rated movies by the 1970s. I remember my father telling me he remembered 6 theaters being downtown when he was growing up. The Paramount and Boonsboro must have been owned by the same institution or individual because the ads are together in one block.
