Boxofficeof June 21, 1971 said that the new Gulf States twin theater under construction in Biloxi would seat 750, with 450 in the larger auditorium and 300 in the smaller. As an economy move, both auditoriums would be served by a single booth employing a single projectionist. Gulf States had a similar twin under construction in Vicksburg.
UA could have built a new cinema in the back of the large parking lot and demolished the older cinema in front in response to the 2010 and 2011 comments.

Enjoyed myself going to this theater also from 1979 – 1981. Right off 90.

The theatre worked well and had great grosses, it was that GST never could find a way to add screens. The lobby was in the middle with two screens to the north and two screens to the south. The east front was the parking lot and another store and the west was an RV site and the property was not owned by the landlords. Surfside Four had a ton of great films and did well. It was just old and run down in it’s last years.
The Surfside was set off Highway 90 a bit, and the location isn’t quite close to anything. A few years ago, there was a sign on the site announcing a new high-end condo development. But the economy may have killed that project, and may have delayed the demolition of the Surfside.

Gulf States tried for many years to add more screens to this location and never could make it work. United Artists closed the theatre and Edgewater Mall when they opened the Biloxi Ten.
