New Theater

The New Theater was opened February 1, 1922 with Carter De Haven in “Marry The Poor Girl”. By 1941 it was was part of Paramount Pictures Inc. thru their subsidairy Ed Rowley. Designed by architectural firm Corgan & Mooore, the seating capacity is given as 350 at that time.

It was rebuilt in 1946 to the plans of architects Frank Ginocchio and Edwin B. Cromwell. It was still in operation in 1950, when the seating capacity was given as 886.

This house was adjacent to the Main Theater (later Rex Theater) in Little Rock. Both theaters have been razed as part of redevelopment of the area.
