The Silver Dollar Twin Drive-In opened November 6, 1963 with Victor Mature in “The Big Circus”. Judging from vintage photos it appears that this was quite a large theatre. Styling was of clean line Modern. On September 24, 1975 it was tripled. It was closed in 1983.

Address above is incorrect. The entrance (still in use) is further south @ 5400. The business park to the east of this is where the drive-in stood.
Sorry to disapoint you. But that Marquee is Not the Silver Dollar Drive In. On San Mateo Albuq.NM. My dad was the Gen. Mgr. of the Terrace, Wyoming, Duke City,Tesque, and Silver Dollar drive in’s, from 1963-1975. I worked at all 5 drive ins.
The Albuquerque Silver Dollar drive-in marquee was 14 feet above the ground and had platforms to stand on to change it. Unless they raised it after that photo was taken. I changed it many times but also left it for Rick West to change if I didn’t get off work till after 3:00 AM.

This opened on November 6th, 1963. Its grand opening ad can be found in the photo section.
September 24th, 1975 grand opening as a 3-screen drive-in also in photo section.
Opened on 6/11/1963 with “The big circus”. The opening night was free admission. Opened on 24/9/1975 on screen 1 with “Dirty Mary, crazy Larry” and “The hot rock”, screen 2 with “The Great Gatsby”, and screen 3 with “Murder on the Orient Express”.
The site(now demolished completly?) is a car dealership(Fiat of Albuquerque).
Closed in 1983, Oak Tree Apartments now occupies the site.
I couldn’t find any Silver Dollar ads in the Albuquerque Journal after Sept. 2, 1980. Spot checks in the summer of 1981 turned up nothing.
Albuquerque Tribune, Sept. 16, 1982: “The former Silver Dollar Drive-In movie theater off San Mateo Boulevard N. E. is on its way to becoming a high-rise apartment complex.”
A closer address is 5310 San Mateo Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM.
The Villas at La Privada currently occupy the site of the drive-in. The old entrance/exit road is now used as the entrance/exit for the Villas.
The marquee for the Villas is located in almost the exact same spot as the marquee for the old drive-in. But given how new the foundation appears, it is not the same.
