Rainbo Theatre

The Rainbo Theatre was opened on October 8, 1936 with Shirley Temple in “Poor Little Rich Girl”. It was closed on March 31, 1953 with Ida Lupino in “Beware, My Lovely” & Jane Frazee in “San Antonio Rose”. It was later renamed Jack R. Ellis Memorial Theatre.

It operated as a Country Music venue named Nowata Country Jubilee which closed around 2016.

From the looks of Google Maps looks like a new bank building now occupies this site, but it could be just a modern facade.

The Nowata Country Jubilee is at 116 N. Maple.

The Rainbo Theatre (sometimes prefer as Rainbow Theatre) opened its doors on October 8, 1936 with Shirley Temple in “Poor Little Rich Girl” along with two unnamed comedies and a Fox Movietone Newsreel.

The Rainbo Theatre closed on March 31, 1953 with “Beware My Lovely” and “San Antonio Rose”.

Just a minor note. This venue was always the “Rainbo” and never the Rainbow Theatre. And, in fact, Chester V. Fleming who opened the Rainbo on a 20-year leasing agreement, as well as the Luxor and the Park-Vu, opened a restaurant in town called the Rainbo CafĂ© after he left movie exhibition in 1956.
