The Screening Room was a small second run movie theatre which opened September 2, 1974. It later went over to screening adult movies and closed in April 1986.

From what I remember as a kid, it was originally the local porno house. Later showed second run stuff when it couldn’t compete with video and PSU student groups that showed porn on campus ( I am not kidding. I first saw CALIGULA at the PSU Forum building in the 80’s). Quickly became a hobby shop after that.
I was at Penn State from 1975-78 and fondly remember all of the downtown theaters – including this one. Second-run, yes, but the price was right and The Stage Door Deli was next-door.
Opened on September 2nd, 1974. Adult movies came later. Grand opening ad posted.
