The Lake Theatre was built in the 1940’s and changed its name to Roxy Theatre on October 4, 1957. This was a neighborhood house serving the east side of Erie. It was closed in 1967 and demolished in 1970.

This was the most beautiful neighborhood theatre in Erie. I went to it when it was called the Lake and later the Roxy.They showed double features,news and cartunes.It was a well kept theatre and all that ever changed about it was it’s name. I almost forgot it had one last name change The Holiday. I never went to it when it was the Holiday, but I think it stayed the same.

Opened in 1949 as Lake Theatre. The name was changed to Roxy Theatre in 1957.

The Lake theatre opened on March 22nd, 1950. Grand opening ad posted.
