Final show was December 6, 2001.
And became the Cinema 5 on October 1st, 1997 as it is taken over by Spector Theatres.

It became listed as the Cinescape theatres after the takeover.
Reopened as UA Cinemas 5 on December 19th, 1980.
This opened on Christmas Day, 1971.

I heard from a patron who said he attended the new UA Cinemas 1&2 on its grand opening, Christmas Day 1971. The features were “The French Connection” and a revival of “Lady and the Tramp”, and there were long lines, as one might imagine.
Its original name was “UA Cinemas 1&2” – the word “Cinema” was on the building since it was built – numbers and letters were removed over the years until it was torn down. I saw a lot of movies there in my lifetime. The best theaters were the original two- the others were much smaller but not bad really. It was really run down toward the end though.
THE ADDRESS SHOULD BE 7310 57th Street (that’s on 50 therefore Cinema 50).
The theater opened as a twin in 1972 and three more theaters were added in 1980.

When was this place built/opened?
I remember fondly waiting in line for Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. You knew a movie was good if the line wrapped around the corner.
As of November 19th, 2003 the Cinema 50 has been demolished to make way for a new Pick ‘N Save food store.
