The Gil Theatre was located on S. Saint Antoine Street at Cameron Street. It was an African-American theatre. It has long been closed and demolished. If anyone has further info on the Gil Theatre it would be appreciated.

When I was a boy, the Gil was strictly an African American theater.
The Gil theatre opened on May 25th, 1950 as “The South’s Finest Colored Theatre” and closed on April 23rd, 1967. At one time it was operated by Connett theatres. Grand opening ad posted.
