Hi-Line Theatre

The Hi-Line Theatre was built in 1949, opening in December 1949 with 320 seats. Billed as ‘The House of Perfect Sound’, it was the only theatre between Shelby and Havre in the north of central Montana, a distance of one hundred miles.

The theatre has had four owners since its construction. Mr C.A. Gustafson sold the theatre in 1966 to the projectionist, Mr Chuck Cross, who operated the theatre until his retirement, when he sold it to Mr. Carey Warren in 1980. Mr. Warren the sold the theatre back to C.A. Gustafson’s youngest son, Willard A. Gustafson, in 2001.

The Hi Line Theatre closes for the winter, but operates Friday through Sunday, March to October.

It is well known for the outstanding popcorn produced by the original 1949 Manley popcorn machine.

Hi! The Hi Line Theatre remains open for business from March through October, with one show on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 7pm. The address is 35 Main Street in Rudyard MT. The interior has been restored to art deco, and the original Manley popcorn machine still makes its famous popcorn.
