Opened in 1937 and closed in 2000, this beautiful neighbourhood theatre was in the middle of the busy working-class Bank and Somerset area, which is now the city’s gay village and disco district. The theatre was demolished in March 2004.

The Somerset Theatre in Ottawa, ON was demolished late in March 2004 to make room for a city housing project and an extension to a nearby grocery store. – Ross Brown, Ottawa, ON
What a shame it lasted all that time and then gets torn down for a grocery store !!!!!

I remember driving up from Toronto at oh-dark-hundred for a test screening of The Empire Strikes Back in 1980. At the time it was still being run by Canadian Odeon Theatres.
