The Grand Theatre opened in 1919 in the South Norfolk district (today renamed Chesapeake). All seating was on a single level. By 1950 it was operated by Visulite Theaters and it operated until at least 1955. It was demolished around 2010.

PLEASE CHANGE CITY TO:
CHESAPEAKE
THANKS
In 1963 the City of South Norfolk and the County of Norfolk (by mutural agreement) formed the NEW City of Chesapeake.
South Norfolk has been a “LOST CITY OF VIRGINIA” for 49 years!
Demolished sometime between 2007 and 2012, along with about half of the sad remains of downtown.
