Chapparal Drive-In

This drive-in opened as the Amity Drive-In on January 29, 1961 with Judy Holliday in “Bells are Ringing” & Glenn Ford in “The Fastest Gun Alive”. Renamed the Chapparal Drive-In in mid-1970. It was owned for a while by Wilford Steiman. Could not find the car count.

Appears to be a vacant block now, ramp markings can be seen on Google Earth along with the foundations of the concession building and screen. Also the street sign may have still existed and was being used to advertise a local radio station up until 2015ish.

Actually opened on January 29, 1961 with “Bells Are Ringing” and “Fastest Gun Alive”. Elmo Howard purchased it in mid-1970 renaming it the Chapparal.

Still visible in the 1974 aerial view, but was gone by the early-1980s.
