- Feb 24, 2009 — Cinema closure brings sadness
The Hampton Cinema 6 opened in 1980. Built for and operated by the Tinios family, it operated as an independent first run theatre, and it was closed on 15th February 2009.
The final movies screened were: "Pink Pantehr 2", "He’s Just Not That Into You", "New in Town", Taken" "Slumdog Millionaire" and "Paul Blart:Mall Cop".
Plans are to demolish the building later in 2009, and build a CVS, Bank and retail units on the site.

Another longtime community movie cinema bites the dust. How sad. I read the story about the closing twice, and actually got a lump in my throat. I also feel sorry for the woman who’ll be out of a job, too. Even though I don’t reside in the area, it’s sad to read/hear about closures like this. Yet, in this day and age of DVD’s and crappy films, it comes as no surprise.
