The Texas Theater was put into operation by Hodges H & H Theaters of Abilene in June 1936.
Jack Laird was city manager of Odessa at the time and brought in his nephew John Foster to manage the Texas Theater. The Laird-Foster legacy is long, but to sum it up the Texas Theater was remodeled in 1947, and bought by John Foster in 1950.
The Texas Theater made it final curtain call in 1955.
