The Main Street Theatre was opened by 1937. It was owned and operated by Mrs. Edith Major. It was still open in the late-1950’s. In recent years it became an American Legion hall. They had moved out by early-2020 and the interior was being gutted in March 2020.

Building has been gutted, and is just a brick shell. Work going on inside, so it’s not being torn down.

The Main Street Theatre was in operation before 1938. This item is from the April 8, 1937 issue of The Film Daily:

“Paris, Mo. — T. J. Bankead is closing the Roxy Theater here. Moss Major, operator of the Main Street Theater in Paris, now owns the lease and will keep the house dark for the present.”
